ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORD (EHR) SYSTEM (Version 1)
Software Team
PROBLEM
Our team visited four slums in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and observed the healthcare problems among the slum dwellers and technical problems encountered by One-2-One medical team.
There are some major problems in tracking patient records; for instance heavy use of paper records, difficulties in identifying the patients uniquely and retrieving useful medical information from local data. The usage of paper records also presented with the following problems:
Additionally, drug inventory management in One-2-One mobile clinic is inefficient. Hence, our team conclude that One-2-One medical team needs a more efficient, accurate and reliable method to gather individual patient information. The team also needs an electronic, real-time inventory tracking system for its pharmacy. Thus the idea of an Electronic Health Record (EHR) System (also known as the Electronic Medical Record system, EMRS) was born. |
SOLUTION
The EHR System (EHR) is a solution that caters to the settings of a mobile medical team serving different slums and villages.

The local server sets-up a wireless network on-site. Before and after each service trip, the local server synchronises with the back-up server at HQ. The online portal allows doctors overseas to access the data on the back-up server.
